Reclaiming funds from the weak-seed incident
If one of your Qubic identities was affected by the weak-seed incident, this is where you register a claim to have its funds returned to a new, secure identity.
What you'll need before you start
Why a signed message is not enough — and what proves ownership
Attach whatever you have. Stronger evidence resolves faster:
- Exchange withdrawal receipt showing a withdrawal to your source address (strongest — your exchange KYC ties it to you).
- OTC deal confirmation referencing the address.
- Pre-incident funding trail from a source you can show is yours.
- A signed message from a different, non-affected address that funded this one.
- A personal / sworn statement (supporting, not proof).
One strong item is usually enough. Several weaker items that corroborate each other can also work.
How the process runs
Claim window
Open now through 2027-05-01. We collect claims throughout — filing early never beats a legitimate later claim.
Two lanes
Fast: single, strongly-evidenced, uncontested claims. Extended: contested, weaker-evidence, or larger claims — core-dev review.
Dispute window
Approved claims are listed (address + amount only) for 7 days before payout. Unresolved competing claims stay frozen in escrow.
Identity check (optional)
Verify with Didit to strongly confirm who you are. Optional, but it speeds up approval and keeps impostors out. We only receive a pass/fail — never your documents.
Where the funds come from
- Drained, still on Qubic → returned from the recovery escrow account.
- Drained to MEXC → returned via the exchange; separate and slower, and depends on law-enforcement cooperation.
- Weak but not drained → released from the on-hold list once your claim is verified.
- Owned assets (tokens / shares) → returned to your new identity when your claim is approved.
- QEARN locks & specific SC standings (QX excluded) → stay in place and are returned to your new identity in later batches. QX orders were cancelled during the recovery so the assets tied up in them could be secured — you still file one claim.
